Frequently Asked Questions

Q: “Does Farfalla Therapy accept insurance?”

A: Farfalla Therapy LLC, is only in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Tricare. Farfalla Therapy LLC, is an out-of-network provider for all other insurance companies and currently accepts private payment only (cash, check, credit card, and HSA cards). Please note payment is due the day services are rendered.

A detailed receipt (superbill) is provided for all of our out of network services and contains all necessary information for you to submit to insurance for reimbursement or credit toward a deductible.

Here are some helpful steps to take when calling your insurance company before starting therapy:

  1. Call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card and ask the person on the phone what the coverage for speech therapy is with an out-of-network provider.

  2. Provide your child’s name, date of birth and insurance member ID/group policy number. When asked, the provider is Ayleen Garcia Hernandez, M.S., CCC-SLP at Farfalla Therapy LLC. TX, license #114497, NPI #1780166363, ASHA Certification #14279815.

  3. During the initial phone call, your therapist will provide you with a list of codes you can reference for reimbursement depending on the information you provide her about your child. These are ICD codes that your insurance company will need to process claims.

  4. Don’t hesitate to ask your insurance company questions while on the phone such as: “Do I need pre-authorization for speech therapy? What forms do I need to submit when filing a claim? When do I need to file a claim by? What information do you need from the speech pathologist? What happens if you deny my claim?”

Q: How does farfalla therapy ensure family safety due to the current health situation crisis (Covid-19) for in person services?

A: Our therapist conducts a health Covid-19 screening before arriving at each client’s home or childcare center. Our therapist wears protective personal equipment such as face mask, face shield, gloves, and medial gown (per request). Our therapist carries hand sanitizer and clorox wipes, and ensures therapy materials are santaized prior to all face-to-face appointments.

Important Information.

(Dealing with insurance companies as a provider can be incredibly challenging and time consuming. Insurance companies often place restrictions on providers and do not always approve or cover what would be considered best practice for a client. Sometimes this results in slower progress and more time in therapy. Accepting insurance also requires countless hours billing and communicating with insurance companies. Being a private pay provider allows the freedom and flexibility to provide high-quality evidence-based treatment without being restricted by insurance companies and frees up valuable time so I can serve more families while also being present for my own. This also means you do NOT need a physician referral or orders to receive therapy, which often prolongs the initiation of therapy).
